Alternative Therapy Expo

Alternative Therapy Expo

Neuro Community Care and Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) developed an Alt Therapy Expo to provide the Independence Program (IP) warriors, caregivers, and families a chance to explore a variety of alternative therapies in the comfort of their own home. These recordings of group art, music, and creative writing therapy sessions can be viewed as part of CSS sessions or as an introduction to expressive arts modalities.

Alt Therapy Expo: Art

Explore Art with ArtWorks therapist Craig Todd, MMT

Craig Todd is an artist who has spent over 30 years in the fine arts, graphics design, sign, and mural industry. He also enjoys utilizing his love of art as a therapeutic artist and Master Mneme NEME Therapist, working with individuals who have experienced brain damage or deficiencies such as Alzheimer disease, dementia, traumatic brain injury and stroke. This therapy utilizes artistic practices and movement to stimulate and exercise the brain, to promote neuro-plasticity, a sense of accomplishment, and a better quality of life

Art of all kinds can relieve stress and anxiety, work our fine motor skills, and help increase sustained mental focus. You don’t have to be an expert artist to not only enjoy drawing and doodling, but be able to create some pretty cool art. All you will need to start is a sketchpad, even copy paper will do, a black marker (not a wide tip) and anything to color with – markers, pencils, or crayons!
